Project Success Story

Industry and Client: A US-based global consumer packaged goods (CPG) organization was scouting for an opportunity to drive utility (energy & water management) resource cost optimization and sustainability goals using digital solutions. After careful market evaluation, L&T Technology Services (LTTS) was selected to provide feasible solutions to achieve these laudable goals.

Challenges: LTTS had to tackle multiple challenges:

  • Overall >5 percent unaccounted cost at source level for each category of utility resource.
  • Lack of traceability of energy and water losses through transmission and consumption lines (>20 percent unaccounted areas).
  • Poor transparency of ROI for capital utility projects.
  • Lack of analysis and benchmarking of equipment on energy and water KPI.

Solution: To overcome the above challenges, LTTS worked with the CPG client for energy and water Energy & Water Managementmetering along the flow path with real-time visibility and balancing of energy consumption along the source. Specific KPIs/metrics were formulated with associated parameter calculations. This helped to analyze operational impact, equipment benchmarking, consumption/product run, etc.

LTTS’ Key Differentiators:

  • ISO 50000/50001 Compliance (PDCA, Compliance Management & Reporting)
  • On-premise, Cloud & Hybrid Architecture compliant
  • In built OT/IT integrations
  • Engineering & Analysis driven

Quantifiable Benefits:  Energy intensity reduced by 10-15 percent leading to absolute cost reduction across multiple sites. The other proven benefits include:

  • Water intensity reduction by 10-20 percent, reducing water loss minimization to <1 percent.
  • Elimination of unaccounted areas in energy, reducing unaccounted cost to <1 percent.
  • Complete visibility of ROI for capital projects.
  • Multiple plant comparison for benchmarking and improvement identification.
