R. Sarangapani has been involved in the engineering of thermal power plants, testing of DCS systems/simulators, and also in commissioning of closed loop controls at various sites. He currently leads the initiative for digitalization of a power plant in NTPC. He has authored papers for national and international conferences including the ISA POWID Division, for which he coined the theme “Empowering Power with Automation.” He was instrumental in the preparation of IEC 62443-2-4 International standard for Cybersecurity of Industrial Automation Systems, and has contributed to the Indian manual for Cybersecurity in Power Systems. He is an engineering graduate (C&I) Thapar Institute, Patiala and postgraduate (Computer Science) from IETE.
