On May 16th and 17th 2017, ARC Advisory Group will host its European Industry Forum (EIF) in the Meliã Hotel Sitges in Spain.  The European Industry Forum is part of ARC’s successful series of worldwide conferences in the USA, India, China, and Japan.

WAGO

Dr. Thomas Holm, Head of Innovation & Technology, WAGO Kontakttechnik will give a presentation on the Method for the Integration of Modules into Fast Evolving Production Systems in the Process Industry, covering the general method, the current state of standardization and first implementation using the MTP technology.

The requirements placed on production in the process industry by the market have changed considerably over the past decades, characterized by fluctuating procurement and sales markets as well as the shortening of product life cycles, particularly regarding chemical products. Furthermore, ever shorter innovation cycles are required and there is an increasing demand for the customization of products. It should be expected that these background conditions will become increasingly prevalent, particularly in the future environment of Industrie 4.0. this makes it even more important to achieve market maturity and financial viability of product and technology innovations quickly, as an early market launch is a critical factor for the financial success of production.

The project “Decentralized Intelligence for Modular Assets (DIMA)” represents the initial approach for a method of meeting the requirements described in NE148 in modularization of process applications. Discussions have shown that the use of Module Type Package (MTP) is a promising way of describing process modules. Several NAMUR working groups are currently working in collaboration with different working groups of ZVEI and VDI on the standardization of the MTP.
