Smart City Project Best Practices at the ARC Annual Forum

At the recent ARC Annual Industry Forum, I facilitated a very interesting discussion on Best Practices for Planning Your Smart City.

In addition to a review of the Systems Engineering Process of consensus-based user needs, measurable functional requirements and the benefits of test plans, several city CIOs presented their unique challenges facing smart city projects, from lighting, connectivity, data, and cybersecurity, to interoperability of utilities, transportation, logistics, and systems. Included in the discussion is focused on the 30A Mobility Project, a public and private partnership between the Seaside Institute, Dewberry | Preble-Rish, HNTB, ITIC, and Walton County to globalize a world-changing strategy.

We concluded the session with a spirited and insightful panel discussion with Joachim Taiber, Rick Severance and panelists, Lee Stogner of the IEEE, Dr. Rahul Razdan of Florida Polytechnic University, Jay Liles of the Seaside Institute and Sid Verma of Siemens Smart Cities.
