The current situation with the coronavirus has led us to re-invent our ARC Industry Forum in Europe and offer it to you as a Virtual Forum this year on May 18 - 20.  There is a feeling of solidarity in the industry right now that if we are creative and flexible, we can beat this disruption and minimize its impact on our lives and our business!

Modular ArchitectureOpen and Modular Architectures

This block of presentations provides insight into the progress in the standardization of open architectures, and in particular the NAMUR Module Type Package (MTP) and the Open Process Automation standard, driven by the Open Process Automation forum.  Several implementations of MTP in pilot plants at Merck, Evonik, and Invite have shown that the MTP standard is sufficiently advanced to be used to operate these plants.  The standard is also suited to integrate package units in industrial-scale plants.

Evonik will present its experiences with the standard and explain why the company believes it will be a game changer for the industry.  Igor Stolz of Evonik will give “An Update on Modular Type Package (MTP)”.

Shell will describe the progress made by the Open Process Automation Forum defining a new standard for interoperability of process automation components and will explain how this will lead to positive business results, both for end users and automation providers.  Jacco Opmeer, Shell Global Solutions/Open Process Automation Business Working Group, will update us with his ”Open Process Automation Forum - Status Update”.

Valentijn de Leeuw, Vice President ARC Europe, will moderate a discussion panel of experts from users and suppliers.  The panel includes Wilfried Grote, Phoenix Contact; Jan Huecker, ABB; Jacco Opmeer, Shell Global Solutions/Open Process Automation Business Working Group; and Igor Stolz, Evonik.

The presentations and the discussion panel will be followed by a Q&A session.
