Honeywell announced that it is partnering with SK E&S, an affiliate of South Korean conglomerate SK Group, to introduce Honeywell carbon capture technology to help SK lead the energy transition in South Korea and Southeast Asia.

Carbon Capture TechnologyTo demonstrate the important role of carbon capture in decarbonizing hard-to-reduce industries such as power generation, steel, cement, and petrochemicals, the two companies are developing a carbon capture demonstration facility at SK E&S's natural gas power plant using Honeywell UOP Advanced Solvent Carbon Capture System (ASCC). Honeywell UOP's technology is a key element in SK E&S's efforts to build a portfolio of sustainable solutions that can be delivered to customers and deployed within power plants in order to become an early mover in sustainability in Korea.

Honeywell UOP ASCC technology is designed to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from combustion gases after combustion, which is more challenging to process due to the low CO2 concentration and low pressure inherent in these sources. Advanced solvents can be used to capture more than 95% of CO2. This technology can be introduced by refurbishing existing plants or being incorporated as part of new installations.

SK E&S is an energy company affiliated with the SK Group. The company is evolving into a 'Carbon Neutral Energy Optimizer' by transforming into a green portfolio based on four core businesses: low-carbon liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, renewable energy and energy solutions.
