On May 16th and 17th 2017, ARC Advisory Group will host its European Industry Forum (EIF) in the Meliã Hotel Sitges in Spain. The European Industry Forum is part of ARC’s successful series of worldwide conferences in the USA, India, China, and Japan.
ExxonMobil
This presentation will be done by Bert De Wilde, EMEA Process Control Discipline Technology Lead, ExxonMobil Engineering Europe.
ExxonMobil must replace a significant percentage of its regulatory control systems in refining and chemicals over the next ten to fifteen years. Based on a research program, started in 2010, ExxonMobil has proposed a solution that involves a standards-based, open, secure and interoperable process automation architecture. This solution leverages technological and business model transformations other industries have experienced – notably avionics and telecommunications.
At present, ExxonMobil is progressing two parallel activities to achieve the vision. The first is an activity with Lockheed Martin to build a prototype of the open, secure, interoperable process automation system. The second is an activity with The Open Group to build a consensus-based standards collaboration among end user companies, suppliers and system integrators that is required to develop and sustain the standard-based architecture.
