The 31st Honeywell Users Group EMEA Conference was held in The Hague, The Netherlands in September 2019.  The Honeywell User Group (HUG) was attended by more than 1,200 participants and more than 400 end-users from 42 countries.  They discussed existing projects and automation trends with more than 200 channel partners.  The motto of the HUG was "REVEAL YOUR BEST".

Applications around "digital twins" and the resulting benefits were the focus of many presentations and best practices.  Honeywell presented the performance of its Experion Highly Integrated Virtual Environment (HIVE).  These include automation solutions, such as modular IOs and other equipment, as well as decentralized C300 controllers.

Honeywell’s Experion HIVE solutions for control applications enable highly flexible architectures for Experion customers that should further reduce project and operational costs.  This solution is a new approach to engineering and maintaining industrial control systems.  Experion PKS HIVE simplifies control system design, implementation, and lifecycle management by decoupling I/O module assignments and control strategies from specific controllers and leveraging IT capabilities in existing data centers.  It also helps increase employee visibility into their impact on overall process and business performance.

With its Forge software, Honeywell supports the user in further optimizing plant performance and efficiency.  Honeywell Forge provides a unified suite of enterprise performance management solutions covering process performance management, asset performance management, manufacturing operations management, and competency performance management.  Forge was positioned as a method to capture knowledge systemically through the models and rules.  The underlying analytics allow users to connect data to knowledge and identify the distance between optimum and actual operations.  Honeywell Forge allows users to leverage the design information with dynamic and empirical models and knowledge rules, forming a type of "industrial intelligence."  The company also embedded its own expertise into the offering.  Four solutions were mentioned: Honeywell Forge Process Reliability Advisor, Honeywell Forge Optimization Advisor, Honeywell Forge Asset Performance Management, and Honeywell Forge Profit Performance Monitor.

On September 25, 2019 Honeywell unveiled new software platform to simplify, strengthen and scale industrial cybersecurity.  The Honeywell Forge Cybersecurity Platform improves cybersecurity performance at a single site or across an enterprise by increasing visibility of vulnerabilities and threats, mitigating risks, and improving cybersecurity management efficiency.  The new platform safely moves data from one site to another and uses operations data to strengthen endpoint and network security and improves cybersecurity compliance.  The platform also delivers a scalable software solution to better address cybersecurity pain points in OT and IIoT environments.
