ARC will be attending the OilComm Conference in October. More than 1,000 digital technology professionals will come together to discuss communications, cybersecurity, operations, optimization, automation, IT/OT, data, digitalization, edge-computing, cloud services, VR/AR, Industry 4.0, and any other number of other technologies that are likely to cause further positive disruption across the energy industry.
The OilComm Conference is one of the major events where oil & gas technology experts come to explore the innovative technologies and services that are transforming the industry. It is designed for technology professionals that work for oil & gas companies, as well as rig owners, drilling contractors, maritime & land transportation professionals, and EPCs. The organization states that there is content that benefit midstream companies as well as downstream petrochemicals. ARC finds that, typically, much of what we learn at these industry-specific events, such as OilComm, can actually apply across a much broader spectrum of end user industries.
OilComm Conference's Agenda Rich with Hot Topics
There is a strong focus on cybersecurity. James M.T. Morrison, Computer Scientist with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will be discussing how companies can protect critical infrastructure from cyber criminals as they increase their threat surface focusing on oil & gas companies. He will discuss where these attacks go in 2020 and beyond and what defenses can be leveraged against.
Ken Munro, Partner with Pen Test Partners, will present an industry first “Live Hack of a Mobile Drilling Platform.” During this presentation, Munro will carry out some live hacking demonstrations showing how poor security practices can expose the user systems to compromise and what you can do to increase your protection. Other topics include Industry 4.0’s impact on the industry, how to apply artificial intelligence in a manner that provides value, remote operations offshore, and the use of cloud technologies.
ARC looks forward to attending OilComm and sharing our takeaways after the event.
