Industry 4.0 is transforming the manufacturing sector around the globe.  It enables manufacturers to intelligently connect machines and equipment across the production line to build a seamless connected ecosystem where machines capture and exchange data through machine-to-machine communications and to human operators.  Mr. Goyal highlighted the importance of Industry 4.0 for emerging economies like India and the need to understand and adopt advanced manufacturing techniques, which is the key success factor in this ever-changing and competitive environment.  Though India lags in the automation of manufacturing facilities relative to the rest of the world, manufacturers in the country are making every attempt to implement advanced manufacturing technologies to improve their business operations and are gradually embracing the ongoing global trend of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.  The country needs to make sure that it has the right resource and infrastructure to make the most of this digital transformation.
