SAMSON, an international manufacturer of control valves for process automation, has acquired the Israeli start-up Visual Process. SAMSON can now offer its customers the predictive monitoring and diagnostic tool SAM GUARD based on Precognize.
Precognize
Precognize is a predictive maintenance software for the heavy industries, including chemicals, petrochemicals, refineries and energy. Precognize provides SAMSON with a sophisticated and advanced process monitoring tool to detect system abnormalities in advance, enabling the operator to take the right action to counteract system failures. The predictive analytics software has just recently been awarded as Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum
SAM Guard
SAM Guard is used for predictive maintenance on several thousand valves and other field devices in industrial plant operation and complements the SAM Digital solutions portfolio. SAM stands for “Samson Asset Management”. The SAM Digital solutions combine experience and in-depth understanding of processes with the latest technologies and smart information. The resulting optimization of their processes, may offer customers added value.

SMEs prepare for digitalization
Samson’s acquisition of Visual Process is another one in a line of initiatives taken by mostly hardware-oriented SMEs to provide themselves with the necessary software tools to remain competitive in modern global market, characterized by digitalization initiative like IIoT or Industrie 4.0. Only in April, German automation specialist Festo acquired Resolto Informatik, provider of the advanced analytics platform PROGNOS.
