At the recent ARC Annual Forum, I chaired a through-provoking discussion on the subject of integrated Mobility more commonly known as Mobility-as-a-Service.
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform is a new concept describing transport alternatives to personally-owned automobiles. A MaaS subscriber pays for access to transport rather than their own vehicle, maintenance, taxes, insurance, and parking. This session featured case studies highlighting the business opportunities of shared mobility as well as how the next generation of travelers will experience a transformation of their habits, a reduction in single-occupant vehicles, reductions in transportation expenses, and - from a supplier's perspective - an increase profitability of customer-focused mobility services.
My brief introductory remarks:
Andy Boenau of the Gotcha Group provides valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of the shared micro-mobility ecosystem:
Next, Reuben Franklin of the City of St Augustine, Florida spoke on "Streets for Ages: Future Mobility In a Historic Community"
Andy Boenau, Jim Frazer, Reuben Franklin and David Kramer of Ford Motor Company concluded the session with an energetic panel discussion and Q&A with the audience.
Thank you to all who participated - and attended.
