At their recent EMEA end user conference in The Hague, NL, Honeywell presented their „Connected Plant Concept“. This included their IIoT-based Connected Performance Services (CPS) that offer the process industries the possibility to maximize efficiency.

CPS is a key part of Honeywell's Connected Plant initiative aiming to help manufacturers leveraging IIoT to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of operations in a single plant or across multiple plants of an enterprise.

For example, manufacturing sites can apply a CPS tool called “Process Reliability Advisor” to continuously analyze their operations, quickly detect and resolve problems to ensure the plant operates at its peak capability at all times.

Embedded in the conference was “The Knowledge Center” that showcased over 60 Honeywell solutions, and partners such as Turck, Phoenix Contact, SKF, Flowserve and others.

Other topics covered in the three-day agenda were health safety & environment (HSE), engineering, procurement, & construction (EPC), UniSim design community, industrial cyber security and batch operations transformation

On top of the latest technologies the conference included showcases on the industrial use of connected workers, virtual reality or drones to raise health & safety and business efficiency.

The participants appreciated the opportunity to discuss the latest technical solutions and options on how to use the automation strategies on a specific site or application directly with channel partners or Honeywell experts.

The conference was well structured, using a professional methodology to connect end users, system integrators and suppliers. The level of technical expertise on the connected plant was outstanding, allowing for productive discussions and evaluations of existing and future trends in process automation. From my point of view, this was the best format for an effective know-how transfer on the future of process automation.
