GE Digital announced the launch of its Predix Manufacturing Data Cloud (MDC), a cloud solution designed to help consolidate and transform manufacturing data across plants for enterprise cloud storage and analysis.  Used in conjunction with a traditional Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Predix MDC helps to bring manufacturing data to the cloud, providing manufacturers with additional operational analysis in the cloud and greater flexibility of deployment, helping to both reduce the size of on-premises systems and run more efficiently.

Predix MDC provides the latest generation of cloud functionality to GE Digital’s MES offering, Plant Applications.  Predix MDC provides manufacturers with a method to ingest and store data in the cloud, helping to speed up process implementation by up to 50 percent, providing users with additional views into information captured at individual sites as well as the ability to run analytics and comparisons across various locations and data types, including manufacturing, enterprise and asset data.  Additionally, MDC can help to reduce on-premise storage and maintenance costs, which can open up computing system capacity to focus on other core capabilities. Also, moving and storing manufacturing data in the cloud can help to provide an additional level of certainty around data retention regulation compliance and auditing purposes.

Designed to support manufacturing across a number of industries, Predix MDC can help to improve operations and insights for a multiple variety of manufacturing types, ranging from discrete to process, across sectors, such as food and beverage, packaging, pulp and paper, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences.
