Fortinet/SecurityWeek Webinar on Industry 4.0 and Cybersecurity

Industry Trends

The role of cybersecurity in the IoT and industry 4.0 is pervasive. Increased digitalization can bring great benefits but also poses some critical cybersecurity risks. The adoption of new technologies is hastening the convergence of the previously separate worlds of IT and OT and increasing the surface area of attack risk. At the same time, the profile of the typical bad actor is changing, as national states increasingly fund and employ more sophisticated hacker groups that can deploy more sophisticated attacks on industry and critical infrastructure.

Fortinet is a USA-based, leading supplier of cybersecurity solutions, including next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection, SIEM, etc.  Fortinet’s offerings for the ICS/SCADA market are based upon ruggedized versions of its next-generation firewall capabilities with key extensions to recognize popular control equipment and associated applications with common industrial protocols. Fortinet’s Security Fabric offering was created to address the requirements of IoT, industrial IoT (IIoT) and Industry 4.0 to deliver protection and visibility to every network segment, device, and appliance, whether virtual, in the cloud, or on-premises. Security Fabric allows for automated synchronization of security resources to enforce policies, coordinate automated responses to threats detected regardless of where they exist on any network and manage different security solutions and products through a single console.

Fortinet and SecurityWeek are hosting a webinar on Wednesday, March 20th at 1 PM EDT to discuss lessons from real-world incidents that target the OT environment, and the impact of IT/OT convergence on fourth-generation industrial environments. The two companies will also discuss how to mitigate OT level cybersecurity threats and the use of real-time analytics and advanced visualization techniques to protect against attacks. Just as operators in process plants must have good situational awareness around the entire manufacturing process, OT level cybersecurity professionals need good situational awareness for the threat landscape. The webinar features Rick Peters, Director of OT Global Enablement for Fortinet and Mike Lennon of SecurityWeek.
