ARC Report Abstract

Overview

With more than 200 attendees, the cybersecurity workshops at the ARC Industry Forum in Orlando earlier this year provided a strong kickoff for the entire event.  The lively workshop discussions covered a wide range of important cybersecurity topics.  These included the current state of cybersecurity in industry, trends and developments in standards, IT-OT convergence, securing the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and ensuring the security of smart cities initiatives.

This ARC Insight provides highlights of the initial workshop session on the current state of cybersecurity in industrial plants, infrastructure systems, and smart cities.  This includes presentations of the results of recent surveys by SANS and ARC Advisory Group.  Representative from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also participated in the session.

This information-packed session provided valuable data for end users who want to benchmark cybersecurity programs against peers and solution providers who are planning new products and services.

SANS Survey Highlights User Concerns and Gaps

Threats to cybersecurity in industry sscs1.JPGDoug Wylie, SANS Director Industrials & Infrastructure Practices, led off the workshop with an overview of some key findings of SANS ongoing research and the SANS 2017 State of ICS Cybersecurity survey.  Topics included end user concerns, risk assessment practices, vulnerability management, breaches and incidents.
