Cognizant has agreed to acquire Zenith Technologies, a privately held Life Sciences manufacturing technology services company. With this acquisition, Cognizant will expand its IoT portfolio and broaden its Life Sciences expertise by enabling it to be a single-source provider of end-to-end, smart factory capabilities.
Based in Ireland, Zenith Technologies specializes in implementing digital technologies to manage, control, and optimize drug and medical device production for maximum operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Cognizant’s Life Sciences clients will find this compelling, because interconnected smart factories, in which automation, analytics, machine learning, and IoT combine to drive greater efficiency, better quality and throughput, are a strategic priority for them.
Zenith Technologies’ operating hubs in Ireland, Germany, India, Singapore, and the U.S. are located near the manufacturing facilities of many clients. Together, the two companies will reportedly be in a stronger position to help clients speed the development of life-saving drugs, biologics, specialized pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
This transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2019, subject to satisfaction of closing conditions, including regulatory review.
